Citizen Watch Company was founded in 1918. The company built a factory to make Citizen Watches in 1936. The Citizen Watch got off to a good start. In 1936, upon completion of the factory, Citizen Watch Company began the export of several Citizen Watches. The company went on to becoming a more successful company and in 1953, Rhythm Watch Company became and affiliate of Citizen Watch Company providing a broader market for Citizen Watches.
Citizen Watch
Citizen Watches were exported to China in 1958, and in 1960, Citizen Watch Company reached an agreement with Bulova for the exportation of Citizen Watches. The Citizen Watch was more and more the backbone of the Citizen Watch Company. In 1960, Citizen Watch Company reached an agreement to export to India, and in 1962 the Citizen Watch was to be exported to Hong Kong. Citizen Watch Company decided to take Citizen Watches to Europe and expanded to Germany in 1965. Citizen Watches were to be exported full scale to Europe going forward.
Citizen Watch Company
The Citizen Watch began to be sold in parts as of the early 1980’s. Citizen Watches were now available in their component parts. Citizen Watch Company acquired Boley G.M.B.H. in 1992. The Citizen Watch was evolving very rapidly and in 1996, the Eco-Drive received an award. Citizen Watches continued to evolve, and eventually the company’s Jewelry business joined the Citizen Watch business.
